SELL YOUR BOOKS

To list your books on Booksticks for sale, just follow these simple steps:

1. Raid your bookshelf! Here are some of the books we will list:

  • Fiction (includes chick lit, mystery/crime, popular, classics)
  • Non-fiction (auto/biographies, animals,  business, popular psychology etc)
  • Graphic books (design, illustrations, picture books for children are fine)
  • Guidebooks
  • Magazines
  • Christian literature
  • Inspirational

We DO NOT want the following:

  • Romance novels (e.g. Harlequin)
  • Books that are not in English/does not have an English translation
  • Dictionaries
  • Encyclopedias
  • Textbooks/Workbooks
  • Manuals
  • Damaged books (e.g. torn cover, torn/missing pages, pen/highlight/pencil markings in the book, book held together with tape)

2. Write down a list of the books you want to sell. Take down the following:

  • Title
  • Author
  • ISBN number (very important)

3. Rate the condition of your books accordingly:

  • Brand new – These books have to be unread, in pristine condition and good enough to be sold at a bookstore.
  • Excellent – Book has been read once or twice but is clean and well taken care of. Pages and cover must be undamaged with no yellowing. The spine should not have any creases as well.
  • Good – Book has been read multiple times. Pages may have a yellow tinge, some brown spots, the book cover or spine may show signs of use. Condition may be comparable to that of library books, with NO loose pages/damage.
  • NFB (Not for the Fussy Buyer) – Books that have seen the best of days, with pages almost brown/spotted with age, but are not damaged and have NO loose or missing pages.

If your book falls into any one of the conditions of a category, it should be listed as that. For example, if your LOTR book has very yellowed pages but the cover is in good condition, it falls under NFB because of the condition of the pages.

4. State the price you want to sell your book for. It should not be more than 2/3 of the original price. For example, if the original price of a book is $19.90, you are not to list it for more than $13.25 regardless of book condition. Bear in mind that this price would also include postage fee.

  • We encourage our buyers to request for registered mail in case of missing parcels. The postal service in Singapore may already be highly efficient, and large parcels that contain book/s don’t get lost often, so this is just a secure option. For registered mail, SingPost charges a flat fee of $2.55, which is borne by the buyer.
  • Whether or not your mail is registered, Booksticks will not be responsible for any loss/undelivered books.
  • Booksticks takes a 20% commission off the total sale price of your book if it is sold. Therefore, your sale price should be:

Your quote price + shipping cost

E.g. $10 + $1.50 = $11.50
Booksticks will take a commission of $2.30, so your profit would be $9.20
* You might also want to take into consideration the cost of packaging i.e. envelopes.
